Environmental Advancing and Linking Project

Absrtact
The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) initiated planning for the establishment of Environmental Science and Technology Parks (ESTPs) in 2002 to upgrade Taiwan’s environmental protection technologies and grasp the global trend of zero waste and carbon reduction. The implementation of this project was to assist the EPA management four ESTPs in Taiwan. With regard to the management of ESTPs in this year’s project, we have finished the planned work items, including auditing & consulting tasks for the enterprises stationed in the ESTPs, reviewing subsidy plans for qualified enterprises, calling relevant meetings, recruiting qualified businesses, establishing communication platform, and enhancing administrative efficiency of the ESTPs. Up to December 31, 2011, a total of 105 companies have been approved to be stationed in the ESTPs, with sold areas land of 50.43 hectares, the expected total investments of NT$19.8 billion, the expected annual revenue of NT$36.1 billion, as well as provided 3,231 job opportunities, and recycled resources of 2.84 million tones. Based on the above results, it showed that EPA fostered the development of 4 ESTPs, which had gradually created the perfect balance between economic development and sustainable environment. Moreover, the implementation of this project was further to assist the promotion of Cradle to Cradle (C2C) concept, including proposing C2C relevant measures, action plans and key performance indicators (KPIs), designing C2C products, and establishing C2C communication platforms, as well as the management and assessment of the scheduled progress of the other industrial waste projects. The works of this project mentioned above contributed to promoting sustainable and cyclical use of resources in Taiwan.
